How might we increase social engagement surrounding music interaction?
View Prototype

Scope
As a music lover, I had a personal pain-point surrounding music sharing.
I figured I might not be alone, other user could share my frustrations.
I decided to conduct some research to validate my assumption.
Task: Make music interacting with friends easier and effective
Length: 3 weeks
Introduction
This project was inspired by my personal frustrations regarding music sharing. The steps it took to share music I was enjoying with my friends was becoming excruciating. It felt quite outdated and inefficient. This led to mostly unshared music due to additional steps. Be that as it may, I could not start a project based on personal feelings alone, so I started research to validate said pain-points.
Problem Statement
How might we increase social engagement surrounding music interaction?
Value Proposition
Cyper is a music streaming platform for enthusiasts that makes it easy to share music with friends.
Research
I conducted quantitative research via surveys and user interviews to learn more about circumstances of the social aspects of music interaction and mostly to uncover a problem that started out as a personal itch to scratch. With data to validate my working theory, I could start on a designing a solution.
Initial Target Profile
Young adults aged (16-28)
College students

Competitive Analysis
I dug into the feature of other products on the market to highlight the unique value Cyper brings that’s currently missing with competitors.

Methodology preference
I opted for a quantitative method of research by creating a survey that was sent to my target potential users. This method proved to be the most effective due to the volume of input that was much needed to objectively gather data. This method of UX Research proved quite successful.
Most participants claim to have pain-points with the interface of most music streaming applications. When asked about their music experience, some user remarks were:
"It's too stuffy", "Sometimes it’s hard to find songs"
When asked how our participants shared music, 45.5% of participants stated that they primarily tell them to look up the song and 36.4% of participants stated they just send screenshots when sharing music with others.
When asked to give a rating of their music sharing experience, 54.5% of participants gave a 3 out of 5 and when asked why, participants remarked:
"Too many steps involved, “it's outside the app"
Ideation
After gathering needed data, I moved on to crafting possible screens and flows that could alleviate this jarring music sharing experience. My process ranged from sketches to Hi-fi prototypes.
Sketches
Site Map
I created a site map to organize and prioritize different screens to be built.
Site Map
Prototypes and Wireframes
I moved on to creating prototypes to visualize working screens.
Just like the sitemaps this step helped me apply more detail to the screens listed above and how they would work together. They helped me get a good sense of where everything would be

Retrospect
With this being my first UX project, Cyper put most of the theoretic skills I had been learning to practice.
I got a good grip on adopting a Human-Centered Design thinking and
This project also honed my prototyping and wire framing skills. However, I wished I had conducted more post ideation tests like usability testings, user interviews, to better refine my designs based on practical user feedback.
